Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, has disclosed that the couple mostly lives apart. While Sunita resides in an apartment with their children, Govinda stays in a bungalow situated across from their flat.
Sunita went on to express that while she once felt secure in her marriage, she no longer shares that sense of confidence.
In an interview with Pinkvilla Hindi Rush, Sunita explained, “We have two homes: a bungalow opposite our apartment. My kids and I live in the flat, and I have my temple there. Govinda stays in the bungalow and comes home late after meetings. He enjoys talking and often gathers a group of ten people to chat, while I, along with our son and daughter, mostly stay to ourselves. We don’t talk much because I believe excessive talking wastes your energy.”
Sunita also shared that Govinda is always occupied with work and has no time for romance. She added, “I’ve told him that in my next life, I don’t want him to be my husband. He never takes holidays. I’m the kind of person who would like to go out with my husband, even eat pani-puri on the streets. He spends too much time working. I can’t even recall the last time we went to a movie together.”
Sunita expressed uncertainty about Govinda’s behavior, saying, “I’m not sure if he’s changed now. People can act differently behind your back. You can’t trust a man completely. People change like chameleons. It’s been 37 years since our marriage, but now I don’t know… earlier he never went anywhere.”
She even joked about Govinda’s potential infidelity, remarking, “I used to feel secure in our marriage, but now I don’t. You know, after 60, people even lose their minds. He’s over 60 now, and you never know what he might do.”
Sunita further added, “It didn’t matter to me before, but now that he’s over 60, I’m concerned. When he was younger, he worked so much that there was no time for anything else, but now that he’s not as busy, I worry. He’s just sitting around, what if he does something?”
Having been married for almost 40 years, Govinda and Sunita tied the knot in 1987 when she was only 18. The couple has two children, Yashvardhan and Tina Ahuja, and continues to share glimpses of their long-lasting relationship.
