Nita Ambani, founder and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, organized a collective wedding for 50 economically disadvantaged couples from Palgar, near Mumbai.
This event marked the commencement of preparations for her youngest son Anant Ambani‘s wedding to Radhika Merchant. The Ambani family, among India’s wealthiest, has a tradition of contributing to society before major family celebrations.
Nita Ambani expressed her joy at being involved in the mass wedding, where she distributed gold and silver jewelry and provided “stree dhan” to the brides. Speaking to the media, she likened her happiness to that of a mother witnessing her children marry, blessing the couples and beginning the auspicious festivities for Anant and Radhika.
For the occasion, Nita Ambani wore a striking red saree adorned with bird motifs, featuring a pallu embroidered with the Gayatri mantra. She complemented her attire with gold jewelry and opted for subtle makeup and a neat bun.
A notable gesture during the mass wedding was the Ambani family’s generosity, which extended beyond hosting the ceremony. They gifted the brides with gold ornaments like mangalsutras, wedding rings, and nose rings, as well as silver jewelry such as toe rings and anklets. Additionally, each couple received household essentials for a year, including groceries, utensils, appliances like gas stoves and mixers, and bedding.
The event was attended by Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, Shloka Ambani, and Anant Piramal, underscoring the family’s involvement and support.
The stage is now set for Anant and Radhika’s forthcoming wedding celebration, eagerly anticipated by many.
