Karan Johar Defends Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor Amid *Nadaaniyan* Backlash

Filmmaker Karan Johar has spoken out in defense of young actors Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, who have faced criticism for their performances in *Nadaaniyan*.

The film, which premiered on an OTT platform earlier this month, has largely received negative feedback from both critics and audiences.

On March 18, during the trailer launch of his upcoming film *Akaal*, starring Gippy Grewal, Karan was asked about the harsh criticism surrounding *Nadaaniyan*. In response, he quoted a famous Bollywood song, saying, “People will always have something to say; it’s best to ignore unnecessary chatter and move on.”

Despite the backlash, several industry figures have come forward to support the debutants. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta recently described the criticism as “harsh,” holding the filmmakers responsible for not adequately preparing the newcomers. Similarly, actor-director Sonu Sood urged people to be kind to debutants, though he did not name anyone specifically.

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt also praised Ibrahim’s performance, predicting that he has the potential to become a major star.

About *Nadaaniyan*

The film marks Ibrahim’s acting debut, while Khushi has previously appeared in *The Archies* and *Loveyapa*. Directed by Shauna Gautam, *Nadaaniyan* is a romantic drama that explores the emotions of first love. Khushi portrays Pia, a confident and free-spirited girl from South Delhi, while Ibrahim plays Arjun, a determined middle-class boy from Noida.

The ensemble cast includes Archana Puran Singh, Meezaan Jafri, Dia Mirza, Jugal Hansraj, Suniel Shetty, and Mahima Chaudhry.
