India is about to witness its most extravagant wedding yet, as Anant Ambani, son of Mukesh Ambani with a reported wealth of $115 billion, is set to marry Radhika Merchant, daughter of Encore Healthcare’s Viren Merchant. The couple, both 29 years old and described as a picture-perfect pair since their first meeting, will celebrate their union over three days of opulent ceremonies.
The festivities kick off with “Shubh Vivah” on Friday, followed by “Shubh Ashirwad” on Saturday and “Mangal Utsav” on Sunday, all held at the Jio International Convention Centre in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex. Security measures are stringent as dignitaries from politics, business, Bollywood, international business tycoons, and diplomats are expected to attend, making this event a global spectacle.
Leaders from across India’s political spectrum, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and numerous other state leaders, will grace the occasion. Even West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, amidst political differences, cited personal invitation from Mukesh and Nita Ambani as her reason for attending.
International participation includes Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong among other prominent diplomats. Mukesh Ambani, deeply devoted to his son Anant, has spared no expense, booking all rooms in five-star hotels across Mumbai at Rs 1 lakh per night for guests. Preceding the main event were lavish parties, including one at Jamnagar and an extravagant Mediterranean cruise with stops in Italy and France.
The grandeur continued with a “sangeet” ceremony at the Ambani residence on Altamount Road, featuring a performance by pop star Justin Bieber, who reportedly received Rs 83 crore for his appearance. Amidst the global attention and unprecedented luxury, Anant’s religious beliefs were evident as he recently took Radhika to a Kali temple in Navi Mumbai for special rituals, symbolizing their hopes for lasting happiness together.
