Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani stole the spotlight at US President-Elect Donald Trump’s private reception before his inauguration in Washington, showcasing impeccable grace and style.
Nita Ambani wore a custom-made Kanchipuram silk saree, designed by National Award-winning artisan B. Krishnamoorthy. The saree embodied the essence of India on the global stage with its traditional craftsmanship.
The saree was intricately designed with over 100 traditional motifs, inspired by the spiritual and historical significance of Kanchipuram’s temples. Notable elements included the Iruthalaipakshi (a double-headed eagle symbolizing Lord Vishnu), Mayil (representing immortality and divinity), and the Sorgavasal animal trails (depicting India’s rich folklore). To add a modern touch, it was paired with a velvet blouse by Manish Malhotra, featuring a high neckline and detailed beadwork along the sleeves, exuding timeless elegance.
Accompanying the saree was a rare 200-year-old Indian pendant in the shape of a parrot, crafted in southern India. The pendant, set in gold with Kundan technique, was adorned with emeralds, rubies, diamonds, and pearls, complementing the traditional look.
With this ensemble, Nita Ambani celebrated the enduring beauty of Indian traditions, paying tribute to the country’s artisans and highlighting their exceptional craftsmanship on the global stage.
Earlier that Sunday, Nita and Mukesh Ambani attended a private reception where they congratulated US President-Elect Donald Trump ahead of his inauguration.
The Ambanis conveyed their hopes for stronger India-US relations and wished Trump a transformative second term in office. They also discussed opportunities for collaboration between the two nations during his presidency.
The Ambanis are set to attend Trump’s inauguration at the US Capitol on January 20, where they will have a prominent seat alongside other distinguished guests, including Trump’s Cabinet nominees and elected officials.
