On Sunday, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan confirmed that his upcoming film is titled *King*, an action movie for which he will need to lose weight.
There have been speculations that Shah Rukh’s next project, *King*, will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, and it is also rumored that his daughter Suhana Khan will have a role in the film.
Shah Rukh made this announcement during a Q&A session at the 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, where he received the Pardo alla Carriera, also known as the career leopard award, on Saturday.
Discussing his preparations for *King*, Shah Rukh noted, “I have to start working on it, lose some weight, and stretch a bit to avoid injuries while performing action scenes. It’s quite painful. I have a bag full of icing machines to help with recovery.”
He humorously added, “It’s tough to see me on set after performing action scenes. I look great in the film, but afterwards, I’m exhausted and need someone to press my back. I can barely walk, but I still manage to give flying kisses to people.”
Shah Rukh, who made a notable return to the screen in 2023 with action thrillers *Pathaan*, *Jawan*, and the social drama *Dunki*, admitted that performing stunts is challenging.
He explained, “Action scenes require practice. While doubles perform some dangerous stunts, 80 percent of the action needs to be done by me if it’s to be convincing.”
The actor expressed a desire to take on roles that align more closely with his age, an idea he discussed with Ghosh, who has previously directed films like *Badla* (2019) and *Bob Biswas* (2021) for Shah Rukh’s production company, Red Chillies Entertainment.
Shah Rukh revealed, “I’ve wanted to explore age-appropriate roles for several years and mentioned this to Sujoy. He works with us and suggested he had a suitable subject.”
He concluded by stating that he plans to complete filming *King* by 2025.
