Samantha Ruth Prabhu, the well-known actress, recently opened up about her health battles and the difficult period leading up to her diagnosis of myositis, an autoimmune disorder.
In an episode of her health podcast series, Take 20, Samantha shared her journey with Alkesh, revealing the challenges she faced dealing with the condition and the emotional upheaval it caused.
Reflecting on a moment of relief amidst her struggles, Samantha recalled, “The year before I was diagnosed, I had an incredibly tough time. I distinctly remember a day when I felt a sense of calm for the first time in ages. It was in June, while traveling back from Mumbai with my friend/partner/manager Himank. I felt like I could finally breathe, focus on my work, and be the best version of myself. And then, I woke up with this condition.”
Expressing her desire to raise awareness about autoimmune disorders, Samantha stressed the importance of prioritizing health and well-being. She explained, “I wanted to share my story through this podcast because autoimmune conditions, being lifelong, require attention. I’d rather people take precautions than regret later.”
Last year, Samantha took a hiatus from work to focus on her health after being diagnosed with myositis. She shared, “A few months ago, I was diagnosed with Myositis. Initially, I hoped to share this news after going into remission, but recovery is taking longer than expected. Accepting vulnerability is still a challenge for me, but the doctors are optimistic about a full recovery soon.”
Despite her health challenges, Samantha is preparing for her comeback. She is set to star alongside Varun Dhawan in the Indian adaptation of the Citadel series, created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. Samantha’s resilience and determination serve as an inspiration, underscoring the significance of prioritizing both mental and physical well-being.
