In a recent interview, veteran producer Ramesh Taurani reminisced about discovering Shahid through his music video “Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra”. At that time, Shahid wasn’t recognized as Pankaj Kapur’s son due to his surname Khatter.
Ramesh Taurani expressed his initial impression of Shahid, recalling him as quite young—around 17 or 18 years old—and foreseeing potential in him as an actor despite his youthful appearance. He mentioned Shahid’s persistence in keeping in touch every few months.
Shahid was offered a role in the film Style, which he declined due to it being a two-hero project. Eventually, he made his debut with Ishq Vishk, a college romantic comedy, which Ramesh Taurani believed suited Shahid perfectly, noting his innate innocence.
Reflecting on Shahid’s career, Ramesh Taurani emphasized the importance of innocence in a hero, likening Shahid’s potential to other successful actors known for their innocent personas like Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn.
