Singer Rahul Vaidya claimed that cricketer Virat Kohli blocked him on Instagram after he made a playful remark about Kohli allegedly liking a post related to actor Avneet Kaur. Rahul addressed the issue through several Instagram Stories, where he also revealed that fans of the cricketer directed abuse at him, his wife Disha Parmar, and his sister Shruti Vaidya.
In a humorous tone, Rahul first shared a video stating that Instagram’s algorithm might randomly like photos on users’ behalf and urged people not to assume he intentionally liked any posts, calling it an error on Instagram’s part.
Later, he shared another story claiming that Kohli had blocked him, joking that it might have been Instagram’s algorithm again, sarcastically suggesting that it blocked him on Virat’s behalf.
Rahul then took a jibe at Kohli’s supporters, calling them “bigger jokers than Virat” after they started sending hate messages. He expressed frustration that his wife and sister were being targeted despite not being involved in the situation, labeling the trolling fans as “worthless jokers.”
In an interview with Zoom, Rahul admitted he wasn’t sure why Kohli blocked him. Although he still admired Kohli as a cricketer, he said he no longer respected him personally. He explained that his original post was meant to be humorous and referenced Kohli allegedly liking a fan page post of Avneet Kaur. Kohli, however, had clarified on his own Instagram that the like was unintentional and likely a result of a glitch while clearing his feed, urging people not to read too much into it.
