Nita and Mukesh Ambani’s Love Story: A Fairytale Blend of Tradition and Modernity.

Nita and Mukesh Ambani‘s love story is reminiscent of a fairytale, blending tradition and modernity seamlessly.

What’s more remarkable is Nita’s choice of attire on her wedding day, despite marrying into affluence. Mukesh Ambani was introduced to Nita Dalal, hailing from a middle-class background, by his mother, Kokilaben Ambani, who spotted Nita at an event and felt she was the perfect match for her son. They tied the knot officially in 1985.

As Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant prepare for their wedding on July 12, there’s curiosity about Radhika’s bridal attire. Meanwhile, let’s take a look back at what the family matriarch wore on her own big day.

Despite their immense wealth, the Ambani family holds deep traditions, especially in attire for significant events like weddings. Nita Ambani opted for a highly traditional outfit, combining two sarees. She wore a panetar saree, symbolizing respect for her maternal family, and a gharchola to honor her husband’s family—a blend representing a significant Gujarati tradition.

The panetar saree, typically white or ivory silk with a red or maroon border, is gifted by the bride’s family. The gharchola, in red and gold, signifies the bride’s welcome into her new home. Both sarees feature intricate tie-and-dye bandhini work, enhancing their cultural and aesthetic significance.

In keeping with family customs, Isha Ambani also honored tradition in her wedding attire in December 2018. She wore an ivory lehenga by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, accentuating it with her mother’s 36-year-old wedding saree as a dupatta, paying homage to her Gujarati roots.
