Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala, who tied the knot in December 2024, have been making headlines ever since, often facing online trolling. Despite the criticism, they have supported each other through challenging times.
On Friday, Nagarjuna, his wife Amala Akkineni, their son Naga Chaitanya, and daughter-in-law Sobhita Dhulipala met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House. The purpose of the meeting was to celebrate 50 years of Annapurna Studios, a prestigious film production company founded by Nagarjuna’s late father, Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The family presented PM Modi with the book Akkineni Ka Virat Vyaktitva by Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, which honors Nagarjuna’s father and his cinematic contributions.
Sobhita and Naga Chaitanya shared a joint post on Instagram, featuring pictures of the family with PM Modi. In one image, Sobhita is seen gifting the Prime Minister Kondapalli Bommalu (dancing dolls), while Naga Chaitanya stands beside her.
Nagarjuna expressed his gratitude on social media, posting a photo with PM Modi and thanking him for the recognition of his father’s legacy. He wrote, “Profoundly thankful to Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi ji for today’s meeting at Parliament House. It was an honour to present ‘Akkineni Ka Virat Vyaktitva’ by Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, a tribute to my father ANR garu’s cinematic heritage. Your recognition of his life’s work is a treasured affirmation for our family, fans, and the Indian movie lovers.”
In another post, Nagarjuna shared his appreciation for the Prime Minister’s remarks about ANR’s philanthropic legacy and the importance of Annapurna Studios and Annapurna College of Film and Media in shaping aspiring filmmakers. “This esteemed acknowledgement fills us with pride and gratitude,” he added.
Sobhita looked elegant in a white and golden saree, while Naga Chaitanya wore a black bandhgala with pants. Sobhita also shared a personal note, expressing her fondness for Kondapalli Bommalu, which remind her of her childhood in Tenali, and her joy in gifting one to PM Modi, who was familiar with the craft’s origins in Andhra Pradesh.
Some netizens drew comparisons between Nagarjuna’s family meeting with PM Modi for the 50th anniversary of Annapurna Studios and the Kapoor family’s meeting with the Prime Minister to mark 100 years of Raj Kapoor. Additionally, fans compared Sobhita to Naga Chaitanya’s ex-wife, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, with many expressing admiration for Samantha.
