In an interview with Galatta India, Keerthy shared the sentimental story behind her iconic red saree: “It’s my mom’s wedding saree, and I had it refurbished. Anita Dongre did an amazing job with it.” Keerthy also took a moment to reminisce, looking through old pictures of her mother wearing the same red saree from 30 years ago.
When asked if wearing her mother’s saree was always part of her plan, Keerthy revealed, “Actually, no. This idea came towards the very end. I was originally supposed to wear a saree from the groom’s side, which I would change into later. So, I needed two sarees, and my mom suggested I find something to wear at the start. That’s when I saw her saree and instantly asked if I could wear it.”
She added that despite the saree being quite old, she had no doubts about wearing it. “It’s not about how old it is or its quality; it’s yours, and you wore it,” Keerthy explained. She also expressed admiration for how well her mother had preserved the saree over the years.

Keerthy’s exquisite red saree featured delicate silver floral motifs and shimmering zari embroidery. She paired it with a matching red blouse, which also showcased the same intricate silver embroidery.
