In its 19th year of recognising excellence in driving innovation, growth, and positive change across industries, the coveted ‘CNBC-TV18 India Business Leader Awards 2023’ (IBLA) presented by Standard Chartered, held its annual awards ceremony in Mumbai. Recognizing the efforts of exceptional individuals from the business domain and in the realms of beauty, sports, and entertainment, the platform recognised contributions of Bollywood icon Katrina Kaif, cricket sensation Shubman Gill, and legendary actor Sunny Deol, among others.
Katrina Kaif took home the coveted ‘Breakout Brand of the Year’ award for her brainchild, Kay Beauty. In her heartfelt acceptance speech, she emphasized, “While conceiving my beauty brand, my vision was to create a space that honours the unique beauty and varied personalities of women. Breaking free from imposing beauty standards, it is a community where every woman can recognize her authentic self. We provide high-performance makeup without compromises—a warm embrace for all.”
The cricketing prodigy, Shubman Gill, was felicitated with ‘The Sports Leader of the Year Award.’ Reflecting on his journey and the recent World Cup 2023, Gill stated, “Attaining the distinction of being the youngest to achieve a score of 200 is indeed an accomplishment, but my primary focus is on long-term success. Continuously surpassing significant records holds true meaning for me, with no specific personal milestone currently in mind. Reflecting on the World Cup 2023, the outcome was undoubtedly heartbreaking for all of us. However, as athletes, looking ahead to future challenges propels us forward. Whether arising from success or setbacks, moving on is an indispensable aspect of our journey.”
Gill also paid homage to his inspiration, Sachin Tendulkar saying, “Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest of all time(GOAT) and I started playing cricket because of him.”
Bollywood’s action-packed performer, Sunny Deol, was honoured with the ‘Entertainment Leader of the Year Award.’
The evening was illuminated by Sunny’s rendition of his legendary lines from the films Damini and ‘Gadar,’ evoking a wave of nostalgia among the audience.
