Kangana Ranaut recently disclosed that she had declined a role in the film *Sanju*.
Kangana Ranaut had previously targeted Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt as part of her anti-nepotism campaign in Bollywood.
She also expressed criticism of Ranbir’s major success, *Animal*. In a recent interview, Kangana revealed that she was offered a role in *Sanju*, where Ranbir portrayed Sanjay Dutt. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film was a significant hit and featured actors like Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, and Sonam Kapoor.
Though Kangana did not specify the role she was offered, she mentioned that Ranbir personally requested her involvement in the film. During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Kangana addressed whether it was uncomfortable for her to interact with those she has publicly criticized or declined professionally. She noted that she had turned down several offers from major stars, but it had not impacted their professional relationships. “Ranbir himself came to my house and asked me to join *Sanju*. I declined, but that doesn’t mean…”
In another interview with Raj Shamani, Kangana shared that she had rejected film offers from all three Khans, believing that the roles for women in those films would not be substantial. She also mentioned turning down deals worth Rs 10-15 crores due to their endorsement of fairness creams, which she deemed racist. “I have always held these views, even before my success. I have turned down films with the Khans, but let me clarify that all the Khans have been very kind and respectful towards me,” she stated.
Kangana has been notably engaged in a one-sided feud with director Karan Johar, whom she labeled as ‘the flag-bearer of nepotism’ on *Koffee with Karan*. In 2023, she seemed to indirectly criticize both Ranbir and Karan, accusing them of spreading false stories about her in the media. “The film industry has various issues, but the worst is this duo of Duryodhan (white rat) and Shakuni (papa jo)… They proudly call themselves the most gossipy, jealous, bitchy, and insecure, referring to themselves as the information and broadcasting ministry of gossip in film,” she posted on Instagram.
