Did you ever binge-watch “Two and a Half Men”? This sitcom, which ran for 12 years, remains one of the most popular television shows of all time.
The show entertained audiences with the misadventures of two men and a young boy over 12 seasons. Angus T. Jones, who played Jake Harper, a former child actor, left the acting industry after his time on the show.
Angus T. Jones began his acting career at just five years old. His debut was in the 1999 film “Simpatico.” Four years later, he secured a significant role in the CBS sitcom alongside Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen.
In his role as Jake, Alan’s son, Jones appeared in 226 episodes. However, he left the show in 2013, though it continued for two more years. He made a special appearance in the series finale.
At one point, Angus T. Jones was the highest-paid child actor in Hollywood, earning around $300,000 per episode (approximately Rs 1.9 crore).
Despite his success, Jones decided to leave acting to pursue higher education at the University of Colorado. In a 2014 interview with KHOU, he expressed feeling like a ‘hypocrite’ for participating in a show that trivialized serious issues.
Jones also joined the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, a socially conservative Christian group. He criticized “Two and a Half Men” in religious videos, calling it ‘filth’ and urging viewers to boycott it.
In response to backlash, Jones later clarified his comments in a statement to Us Weekly. He expressed respect for his former colleagues and apologized if his remarks seemed disrespectful or unappreciative.
In 2023, Jones made a return to show business, guest-starring in “Bookie” and reuniting with Charlie Sheen.
