Prateik Babbar and Priya Banerjee recently got married in an intimate Valentine’s Day ceremony, celebrating their love in a private and meaningful way.
The wedding took place at Prateik’s late mother, legendary actress Smita Patil’s home in Bandra, Mumbai, with close family and friends in attendance. However, the absence of Prateik’s father, actor-politician Raj Babbar, and his half-siblings, Aarya and Juhi Babbar, sparked speculation about family tensions.
Addressing these rumors, Priya Banerjee dismissed the idea that any significant family members were excluded. In an interview with Hindustan Times, she clarified that their families were present, including Prateik’s aunts, grandparents, and her own parents, emphasizing that no one important was left out.
Despite this, Aarya Babbar expressed disappointment over not being invited. Speaking to ETimes, he claimed that none of the Babbar family members, including their father, received an invitation. He suggested that external influences might have affected Prateik’s decision, implying that someone had distanced him from their side of the family.
Aarya later criticized Prateik’s choice, calling it disrespectful to their late mother, Smita Patil. In another interview, he stated that even if Prateik did not want to invite him or Juhi, he should have at least included their father, whom Smita Patil had loved.
Despite the controversy, Prateik and Priya remained unaffected, asserting that their wedding included those who truly mattered to them. Priya reflected that marriage did not feel drastically different, as they had been together for nearly five years and lived together. Prateik, taking a more philosophical stance, described their union as something that had happened across multiple lifetimes and universes.
This marks Prateik’s second marriage, following his previous one with Sanya Sagar. While the Babbar family’s absence continues to be a talking point, Prateik and Priya are content, having celebrated their wedding in a way that felt right for them.
