Somy Ali, who transitioned from acting to social work and dated Salman Khan in the 1990s, has described being recognized as his ex-girlfriend as the biggest curse of her life.
In an interview with IANS, Somy shared her experiences with Salman, discussed her Bollywood journey, talked about her NGO “No More Tears,” and even touched on the infamous underworld figure, Dawood Ibrahim.
When asked if her relationship with Salman brought any benefits, such as more fame, Somy replied, “It’s been the biggest curse for me. Despite achieving so much and doing meaningful work in the U.S., people still identify me only as Salman’s ex-girlfriend.”
She further criticized Salman’s behavior, saying, “Even though he’ll be turning 59 or 60 this December, he still acts like a school bully, harassing others out of insecurity. He tells people not to talk to me.”
Somy also spoke about her friendship with actress Manisha Koirala, recalling how Manisha was once told that Somy had cancer. Somy expressed her shock and clarified that she hadn’t known about Manisha’s illness and only wanted to reconnect after a long period of no contact.
Somy shared her perspective on Salman’s dating pattern, stating, “Salman has a seven-year cycle in relationships. Women typically stay for seven years before they realize his true nature. He never ends relationships; the women always walk away after figuring out who he really is.”
Somy revealed that she had distanced herself from the Indian film industry for a long time because thinking about it reminded her of Salman, which brought her feelings of sadness and depression.
Somy also shared that she once carried a photo of Salman Khan in her wallet during her travels from the U.S. to India, hoping to one day marry him. She developed a deep crush on him after seeing *Maine Pyar Kiya* in 1989.
