“Bhuvan Bam Celebrates 5 Billion YouTube Views, Reflects on Content Creation and Industry Bias”

Indian YouTuber Bhuvan Bam, renowned for his comedy sketches and acting, has recently surpassed 5 billion views on his YouTube channel.

Despite having posted his last video nine months ago, Bam is thrilled that his channel remains popular and appreciated by viewers. He expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s a great feeling. Who would have imagined such a huge number? It accumulated over seven or eight years, and now it feels like ‘yes, I must have done something special.'”

At 30, Bam shared that he is focusing on his acting and writing career but still longs for content creation. He explained, “I miss it every day. I constantly think about writing something and posting it, but my responsibilities have increased. I’ve started several topics but need to dedicate full time to complete them, which I can’t afford right now.”

Recently, there has been much debate about influencers entering Bollywood and potentially taking opportunities away from traditional actors. Actors Aahana and Abhishek Banerjee have also commented on influencers securing acting roles. Given Bam’s background in the digital space, his perspective is sought. According to Hindustan Times, Bam stated, “I completely understand their concerns because the so-called ‘influencer culture’ has become dominant. Producers and OTT platforms often show a bias toward them, casting based on follower count. Therefore, those who are raising these concerns are somewhat right because our formats and approaches are different.”

He further elaborated, “In our country, it’s like donkeys and horses running together, with donkeys often ahead. This mindset is prevalent in every industry. Even now, people are introduced as ‘from YouTube,’ and there’s visible bias. Gaining acceptance in this industry is challenging. While some are finding work, those who aren’t are focusing on digital content. The ultimate goal for many is to secure an OTT project or a movie. The struggle remains to find work because perceptions are hard to change.”
