Imran Khan and Avantika Malik ended their marriage in 2019, though they had been together since their teenage years. They tied the knot in 2011.
Imran, a former actor, discussed the end of his marriage to Avantika Malik, revealing that the decision to separate was deeply emotional but necessary due to their entrenched patterns.
During an interview on the We Are Yuvaa YouTube channel, Imran addressed the stigma surrounding mental health issues and divorce. He stated, “I don’t feel shame or stigma about it. The decision was made because we realized we were no longer supporting each other in becoming our best selves.”
He elaborated, “In long-term relationships, people often fall into unhelpful patterns. For us to thrive, we needed to make a tough decision. While it was painful, it has been crucial for my personal growth. I believe there’s nothing wrong with changing the dynamics of a relationship.”
Imran argued that a lifelong commitment should only be maintained if it fosters mutual happiness and growth. “If it doesn’t, then it’s right to alter the relationship,” he noted. He also spoke positively about his current partner, Lekha Washington, mentioning that their relationship is built on a shared intention to grow and heal.
Imran and Avantika have joint custody of their daughter, Imara, who spends time with both parents. Imran described himself as a ‘hands-on’ father, actively involved in every aspect of his daughter’s life without relying on nannies or assistants.
