The Ambani wedding has brought into the spotlight the rich artisanry and craftsmanship of India to fashion enthusiasts worldwide. From Bandhani and Kasheeda to Pichwai and Zardosi, the women of the Ambani family have showcased intricate embroidery techniques that celebrate India’s cultural heritage.
The men of the Ambani family also left a lasting impression with their attire. Anant Ambani, for his wedding, donned a vibrant red Bundi jacket meticulously crafted by Manish Malhotra. This custom-designed jacket was embellished with gold vark and drew inspiration from traditional Pichwai paintings found in Rajasthan’s Nathdwara temple. Its motifs included lotuses, trees, cows, and peacocks.
Manish Malhotra shared details on Instagram, highlighting that the jacket was created by artisans from Bhilwara over 600 hours and intricately painted by three skilled Pichwai artists in 110 hours, using 100 gold leaves. This ensemble stands as a profound testament to the skill and dedication inherent in traditional Indian artistry.
Nita Ambani, the groom’s mother, opted for a striking pink charbagh sari adorned with intricate meena work and rangkaat techniques. Her ensemble was particularly notable for its purple blouse, featuring real gold varak work meticulously crafted by Pichwai artist Shehzad Ali from Kishangarh, Rajasthan.
