Academy Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie shared her emotional journey while filming her upcoming project, “Maria,” in an interview with ExtraTV. She also discussed how her children witnessed her tears during the production.
When asked about having her kids on set, Angelina stated, “It meant everything. Before stepping into these situations, I was nervous. They just said, ‘No matter what, Mom, good luck. We know how hard you work, and we love you.’ It’s those moments when the people with you remind you that they care, regardless of success or failure.”
She revealed that her children saw her vulnerable side during the filming. “They watched me learn to sing, practice, and feel nervous… They were there for my first performance when I was terrified, and they witnessed me break down crying. It was a unique time for us to bond in a new way.”
Jolie’s children played active roles in the film’s production, contributing to various departments. “My boys were on set with me, involved in the AD and photography departments. It was amazing for them to see me work in such a deeply emotional film.”
“Maria,” directed by Pablo Larrain and written by Steven Knight, creatively reimagines the life of opera singer Maria Callas, focusing on her psychological portrait. The film is set in the 1970s, towards the end of Callas’ life.
“Maria” will premiere in select theaters on November 27, followed by its release on Netflix on December 11.
